Happy New Year! I hope everyone’s Christmas season was filled with fun memories.
To start off 2025, we have our upcoming Behavioral Health Parity Auditor (BHPA) Core 1 course. The course will run from February 17 to March 21. Core 1 is the Legislative and Historical Perspectives of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) and has five learning modules with one module completed weekly. I encourage you to enroll if you have not already. Please visit the IRES website to learn more about Core 1 and what each week’s module will focus on. (This is a virtual course).
Our Market Conduct Management (MCM) designation course continues to be a very popular designation. Our first offering of the MCM course for 2025 is already closed for registration as we are at capacity. If you or any of your coworkers would like to enroll for the remaining MCM course for 2025, I encourage you to not hold off when you receive your email that registration is open, as registration does fill up fast. The dates for the remaining 2025 offerings are April 28-30, June 16-18, September 29-October 1, and December 15-17. (These are virtual courses).
Please mark your calendar for the 2025 IRES Career Development Seminar (CDS) will be held July 27-29, 2025 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Houston, Texas. This year's theme is “Houston Rodeo of Compliance: Wrangling the Latest in Insurance Regulation.” Please keep an eye out for emails about the CDS and register as soon as you can. We are very excited for CDS this year!
Additionally, be on the lookout for our upcoming IRES Webinars. The Committee is actively preparing the topics for 2025 with subject matter experts. If you have a topic that you would like to propose to the Education Committee for 2025, please contact Committee Chair Robert McManus.
You should have received an email that IRES is accepting nominations for the Al Gross/Jim Long Rookie of the Year Scholarship and the Thomas L. Reents Memorial Scholarship. The deadline has been extended to March 1, 2025, so please submit your nominations by then.
Finally, I would encourage you to attend the IRES Foundation National School on Market Regulation “Reaching New Heights in Compliance”, that will take place at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico from April 6-8, 2025. Please visit the IRES Foundation website for more information, including the agenda for the event. The IRES Foundation has always been an active supporter of IRES.
In closing, I want to thank the members of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors for the work completed in 2024 and look forward to continuing the progressive work of IRES for 2025.
